Teatro San Carlo Dance School, free demonstration lessons. How to book

Il 15 and 16 2024 November, the prestigious San Carlo Theatre Dance School of Naples opens its doors for two days of free demo lessons, at the San Carlo Workshops in Vigliena. The school, directed by Clotilde Vayer and known as the oldest in Italy, presents this initiative to make the work of young dancers known to the public, with the aim of making ballet accessible and inclusive. Find out all the details about the organization and how to participate.

What is the aim of the initiative?

The school principal, Clotilde Vayer, aims to take ballet outside the traditional confines of the theatre, reaching new audiences and making the art of dance accessible to an ever-increasing number of people, including communities further away from the cultural centre of the city. San Carlo Workshops offers a space where young dancers from all over Italy can express their talent and bring out their ambitions, while the public can get closer to an art form often considered elitist.

The initiative is part of the project Affabulazione, promoted by the Municipality of Naples and financed through the National Fund for Live Performance of the Ministry of Culture. This opening of the lessons to the public allows us to break down the barriers that often separate dance from the general public, educating and bringing people closer to beauty of ballet.
