Secret Gardens in Naples and Campania: visit to the historic villas usually closed

Il FAI has organized a new initiative dedicated to secret gardens and naturalistic treasures of the various Italian cities and ours could not be missing Campania, Compresa Napoli, with appointments 29 from May to June 18 2022.

This is the first edition of this type of event called proper Secret Gardens, a regional initiative organized by FAI Youth Groups Campania who will guide the many visitors in the four scheduled visits to discover the Villas of our Region.

We will start with Benevento and its fascinating Rocca to continue a Napoli with the wonderful Villa Rosebery, continuing with Avellino e Salerno. They will be excellent opportunities to get to know the enormous variety of plants and trees of Campania by walking among camellias, pines, oaks, oleanders, horse chestnuts, magnolias and rose gardens in bloom.

But let's see the program in detail.

Program of visits to the Villas

May 29 - Benevento

We will visit the Fortress of the Rectors of Benevento in an itinerary between nature, contemporary art and archeology.

The gardens are located in the rear area and it will also be very interesting to visit the Lion Monument at the entrance and which represents a fine example of the reuse of Roman art in the XNUMXth century.

Programme:

  • 9.00 am - start of the Event
  • 10.00 am - XNUMXst artistic workshop
  • 12.00 - II ° Art workshop
  • 19.00 - Musical entertainment
  • 21.00 pm - conclusion of the event

Where: Piazza Castello in Benevento
Schedule: appointment in Piazza Castello in Benevento, from 9.00 to 13.30 and from 15.30 to 21.00.

Price: contribution from 3 €. You can register for the FAI on site with a welcome fee of € 15 for young people aged 18-35 and renewal at the same price.

June 11 - Naples

Could not miss the opening of the splendid Villa Rosebery on the beautiful hill of Posillipo. It is an early 800th century villa which has been in use since 1957 President of the Italian Republic as one of its three residences and it is not normally open to the public.

The visit includes one walk in the park with its Mediterranean flora and the English garden where there is a neoclassical templet. There are very beautiful panoramic views to admire and, continuing with the walk, you arrive at the Dock up to Great Foresteria.

Schedule: 10.00 - 10.30 - 11.00. Arrive 15 minutes early with valid ID
Price: reserved for FAI members, possibility to register on site. For young people between 18 and 35 the fee is € 15, also for renewals.

Villa Rosebery

June 12 - Avellino

Visit to the secret gardens of Villa Amendola, a historic residence from the early 700th century which also includes a civic Museum, eighteenth-century caves which also resisted the bombings of the Second World War. Inside there is the exhibition of the Irpinia artist Giuseppe Rubicco.

The garden is full of plants and flowers such as oleanders, horse chestnuts, magnolias, firs, pin and the wonderful rose garden.

Schedule: appointment at Villa Amendola, from 10.00 to 18.00 (last admission at 17.30)

June 18 - Salerno

In Nocera Superiore, in the province of Salerno, you can visit the historic garden of Villa Lanzara, a case unique of an eighteenth-century English garden. Very interesting also from the botanical point of view due to the presence of twenty-six types of camellias including one of 170 years 12 meters long and 8 meters high.

Schedule: visiting shifts at 10.00 and 11.00
