Also this year the provision that provides for the pedestrian one-way street in via San Gregorio Armeno in Naples, the traditional street of nativity scenes famous all over the world.

The mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi has thus provided to regulate the pedestrian flow in this traditional street in the historic center of the city, an area that every year Christmas it literally fills up with tourists and citizens who want to admire the original creations of the cribs.

The reasons for this provision lie in the general safety and security reasons contrast to Covid-19.

When the one-way pedestrian lasts

Starting from the 4 24 2021 December. Precisely, every weekend until Christmas, in the days close to the Immaculate Conception and for the whole week preceding December 24th, the pedestrian one-way street will go up, that is, from the intersection with via San Biagio dei Librai-Vico Figurari towards Piazza San Gaetano.

Here are the days and times in detail:

  • Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th December from 9.00 to 21.00
  • Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 December 2021 from 9.00 to 21.00:
  • Friday 10, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 December from 9.00 to 21.00
  • from Saturday 18 to Thursday 23 December from 9.00 to 21.00
  • Friday 24 December from 9.00 to 15.00

Prohibitions in case of greater crowds

The ordinance also specifies that, in the event of more pressing needs due to more critical conditions due to crowds and too many crowds at the intersection of via San Biagio dei Librai and via San Gregorio Armeno, the local police can temporarily block access at the intersection of piazzetta Nilo and San Biagio dei Librai and at the intersection of via Duomo and via San Biagio dei Librai.
