Sensuability & Comics 2025, Inclusivity and Art at Comicon

Il Comicon Festival renews its commitment to supporting inclusive creativity with “Sensuability & Comics”, a project that combines art and social commitment. The competition uses comics and illustrations to explore and challenge prejudices related to sexuality and disability, promoting an authentic and stereotype-free vision.
How does the theme of literature develop?
For 2025, the competition invites artists to take inspiration from literature, reinterpreting great classics that have contributed to forming an inclusive imagination. Works such as “Beauty and the Beast”, which tells of a love beyond appearances, and “Notre-Dame de Paris” by Victor Hugo, with its protagonist driven by overwhelming passions, offer ideas to explore themes of imperfect beauty and profound humanity.
Illustrators are invited to depict emotionally charged scenes, ranging from the romantic, the sensual and the ironic, to challenge preconceptions and enrich the collective imagination.
What is the mission of the contest?
“Sensuability & Comics” aims to redefining the way disability and sexuality are represented. Through art, we aim to create a space that celebrates diversity and addresses complex issues with humor and sensitivity. The goal is to challenge dominant narratives and propose an inclusive and authentic image of human sexuality.
Armanda Salvucci, the creator of the project, says that the initiative wants to “give visibility to unconventional bodies and challenge clichés, showing the intrinsic beauty in every form of expression”.
Who can participate and how?
The contest is open to all comics and illustration enthusiasts from 16 years up. Participation is free and the works, in digital or paper format, must be sent by 20 January 2025 to the email address concorso@sensuability.it.
What opportunities does the competition offer?
Participants will have the opportunity to compete for exclusive prizes, including:
- A scholarship for Fabio Magnasciutti's Satire Course at Officina B5;
- A professional Wacom One Creative graphics tablet;
- Entrance for two people to the COMICON 2025.
Where will the exhibition of the works be held?
The selected works will be exhibited in a dedicated exhibition, which can be visited starting from 14 February 2025, as part of the circuit COMIC (ON) OFF. The event will also include tables created by internationally renowned artists, offering a rich creative panorama.
The poster for this edition, designed by Kutoshi Kimino of the Sputnik collective, artistically interprets a scene from Dante's “Inferno”, further enriching the theme of literature.
