Snorkel takes you to the Submerged Park of Gaiola in Naples: diving excursions to discover the Roman villas and marine life!
Coming to the Submerged Park of Gaiola in Naples appointments not to be missed: on different dates, from the 7 to the 29 July 2018, are in fact scheduled snorkeling excursions to discover the wonders of the protected marine area. The paths are meant to be accessible to everyone, and participants will be given all the necessary equipment for the visit.
The specialized guides will show visitors the particularities of a submerged world rich in archaeological remains and marine life, a unique encounter between history and nature. After a brief introduction mask, mouthpiece and fins will be provided, included in the price, then proceeding to the excursion in groups from 8-10 people.
In order to participate no specific skills are required, and the shallow depth allows you to easily admire the backdrop. It will be possible to choose between two itineraries, one at the Peschiere di Pollione and one at the Imperial Port and the Virgilio School. In the price they are including registration with CSI Gaiola and insurance.
Itinerary 1 - The Peschiere di Pollione
The route winds through the waters of the Gaiola islets, where you can admire Roman remains of great value. Among these structures, beautifully preserved, also the fishing pond system of the villa of Publio Vedio Pollione, which are developed on a surface of 9000 square meters. Here they are still visible tanks for the breeding of moray eels and water canalization systems.
Itinerary 2 - from the Imperial Port to the Scuola di Virgilio
Starting from the Cala di San Basilio, we will proceed towards the Capo Scoglio di Virgilio to visit the Roman villa of Pausilypon. It will thus be possible to discover the elements of the landing, including the pier, the aqueduct system, the baths and the nymphaeum. Finally we will pass in the evocative coastal cavities of the bay of Trentaremi.
