Toledo metro station in Naples awarded in London

The Toledo metro station in Naples received an important award in the public transport category of a prestigious event in London

It's been about a year since Toledo station line 1 of the Naples metro, one of the various "art stations" of the city, has opened and after a few days it has already begun to be talked about. So much so that it was immediately considered the most beautiful metro station in Europe.

The confirmation, however, arrived a few days ago because Toledo was awarded a prestigious prize in the English capital. In fact, the awards ceremony for the "Public building of the year" took place in London and our station was one of the protagonists. In the transport infrastructure category, it won the "Emirates leaf international award 2013".

The councilor for mobility of Naples, Anna Donati, attended the event, representing the Mayor de Magistris, and received the award together with the President of Metropolitana Giannegidio Silva. Also present at the award ceremony was Oscar Tusquet Blanca, the Spanish architect, Catalan to be precise, designer of the station.

The event that was held in London this year represents the tenth edition of the event and, every year, awards awards to projects of the previous year that have brought great innovations to design and architecture worldwide.

Recall that the Toledo station has also been several times home to contemporary art classes and educational tours, such as the one organized by the municipality and called MetroArt, and that it was possible to visit it for free, together with the other art stations, during the European week of sustainable mobility.
