Roads closed in Naples May 18 for possible Napoli party. Times and checkpoints

In anticipation of spontaneous celebrations linked to a possible football triumph of Napoli, the city will be affected by traffic closures and restrictions on movement starting from Sunday 18 May 2025. The plan, requested by the Police Headquarters and implemented by the Municipality, includes a vast “Blue Zone” with pedestrian access only, delimited by five main areas with numerous control gates. The closures to vehicular traffic they will shoot at 20:30 and will remain active until the need ceases on Monday 19 May.

The areas affected are:

  • San Ferdinando (41 control points)
  • San Carlo (13 control points)
  • Vicar (4 control points)
  • Decumani (41 control points)
  • Fuorigrotta (2 control points)

There are also restrictions on traffic in the vicinity of the city ​​hospitals, with a parking ban within a radius of 300 meters. The areas involved include hospitals such as Cardarelli, Santobono, San Paolo and CTO.

How will public transportation work in Naples?

To ensure mobility during the evening, the Municipality has arranged extraordinary races of metro, buses and funiculars.

  • Metro Line 1: active until 02:00 at night
  • Central and Chiaia Funiculars: last races at 02:20
  • Line 2 FS: additional runs until 01:15, with 14 additional trains
  • Bus Anm: lines 151, R6, 190, R2, 162, 196, 168, 169 and 140 active until 02:30

Access to Line 2 trains will only be permitted with Ticket already purchased and valid, to be shown to the security personnel present at the stations.

What does the ordinance of the Municipality of Naples provide?

The ordinances provide not only transit bans but also sales restrictions and the consumption of drinks and fireworks. From hours 16am on Sunday 45 May, the following will be prohibited:

  • La sale and consumption of beverages in glass bottles, cans, rigid plastic and other rigid containers
  • The use and sale of fireworks, firecrackers, bangs and rockets

Drinks may be served only in light plastic or paper cupsThe ban is in effect throughout the city, until the next day when no further needs arise.

Are provided special exemptions for residents, emergency vehicles, vehicles for the disabled, accommodation facilities, journalists and public service operators, subject to possession of specific documentation.

Where will health checks and measures be active?

The Municipality has arranged for the presence of HealthPoint within health personnel and ambulances at various strategic points:

  • Piazza del Plebiscito
  • Piazza Garibaldi
  • Piazza del Gesù
  • Piazza Vittoria

Furthermore, in some major metro stations (
Piazza Garibaldi, Cavour, Montesanto and Campi Flegrei) will be active safety and assistance devices by FS Security and railway staff.

The whole plan aims to ensure the public security during any mass celebrations, trying to avoid congestion, dangers or critical situations in the city.
