Una great work of street art 300 meters long and 11 meters wide gives color to the beautiful Lungomare di Napoli thanks to the work of 9 contemporary street artists, including Jorit, who joined 12 students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples to create this huge work.

This is the first stage of the ART & More project that started right from Naples and has the purpose of to support art and to promote it especially to the general public. It will also be a driving force for tourism and will make our wonderful Lungomare even more suggestive.

The project gave life to a work of 3.300 square meters and was born from the collaboration between the Department of Green (with responsibility for urban creativity of the Municipality of Naples), the supervision of the staff member of the mayor Sarah Terracciano, the inter-departmental table for the urban creativity, the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples and created by BAT Italia.

The artists who created the work

In addition to the already mentioned and known Jorit, the other contemporary street artists who participated in the initiative are Shaone, Iabo, Zeus, Tres, Yele, El Nigro, Cref and Cocchia and each of them worked together with a student to inspire and guide him in the choice of styles and techniques to use.

Thus was born an incredible work that blends many ideas, styles and influences in many color combinations. The whole project is divided into individual "squares", but with their own continuity, each of which represents characters and concepts born from the minds of the different artists who have managed to give harmony to the whole.

The work of street art: themes and tributes

This huge mural on the Lungomare Caracciolo will be visible to the public until 21 July 2021 and anyone will be able to admire it walking next to it or even above it, living a completely immersive and inclusive experience.

There are many themes and tributes made by the many artists involved. We can admire the unconscious heroes of Chocchia, the dualism within us represented by Zeus as opposed to plurality of works by El Nigro, Cref's labyrinth, the relationship between different social forces created by Shaone in his Siren and Sara di Jorit's eyes on the future of Naples designed by Jorit.

Furthermore, there are the superheroes fighting against the prejudices of Iabo and the contradictions of each of us of Yele and Tres, without forgetting the very topical theme of the role of technology today narrated by the students of the Academy of Fine Arts. Overall we can see references to Batman and Robin, Wonder Woman, even Homer Simpson.

Jorit and Shaone's messages

The same Jorit he stated that the blue eyes he drew, those of one street urchin they are actually two profiles that are observed and the beauty of Naples and its sea are reflected in it. Shaon, instead, with its Siren escaping from the tentacles to return to the sea through a manhole it represents the symbolic journey to Hell to reach salvation.

The work will be digitized

After 21 July the installation will disappear from the Naples waterfront, it will be digitized, registered in NFT (Non Fungible Token) and auctioned in the crypto art market. The proceeds from the sale will be intended for associations in the world of art and entertainment, especially to operators who have suffered most from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. In particular, to the Nartea cultural association that promotes culture and art in our city.
