Oscar Awards 2023: who are the Italians and the nominated films
Italy will have a unique opportunity to win an Oscar important next 12 March, all thanks to the two Italian candidates who got a nomination: Alice Rohrwacher and Aldo Signoretti.
Alice Rohrwacher's short film: Le Pupille
Alice Rohrwacher, director, screenwriter and producer, was nominated for her short film "Le pupille", set in an orphanage and inspired by a letter from Elsa Morante which he sent to his friend Goffredo Fofi during Christmas 1971.
The film, lasting 38 minutes, already visible on Disney + in the dedicated page, was highly praised by critics.
Aldo Signoretti's work as make-up artist in Elvis
Aldo Signoretti was nominated thanks to his work as hair and make-up master in Baz Luhrmann's film, Elvis.
It is the Signoretti's fourth Oscar nomination, so maybe this will be the right time.
The other Italians at the Oscars
There are also two other Italian exponents who will represent Italy at the 2023 Oscar awards. Lorenzo Zurzolo is in the cast of Jerzy Skolimowski's film EO, an unconventional comedy starring a donkey.
There is certainly great enthusiasm among Italian cinema enthusiasts, and we hope that one of these two candidates will be able to take home a gold statuette.
