Temptation Island is one of the most popular reality shows on Italian television, airing on Canale 5 and hosted by Filippo Bisciglia . The concept is simple but effective: 21 days of separation to test the couples' strength, amid temptations and confrontational bonfires.

How it works

Each edition features couples in crisis , separated and placed in two villages: the temptresses ' and the tempters' . Keeping them company are the singles , divided into men and women, ready to question their fidelity.

During the 21 days, participants live separate lives: they can meet singles, spend time with them, and challenge themselves, but they cannot see their partner.

The bonfire and the videos

The heart of the program is the comparison bonfires . During the experience, couples are called to the bonfire to watch videos of what their partner is doing in the other village. These images are often ambiguous, constructed to fuel doubt and jealousy: a prolonged gaze, physical contact, an interrupted conversation.

At the end of the 21 days comes the final bonfire , the climax: in front of the entire group and the audience, each couple must decide whether to continue their love story or separate forever . The final bonfire is the true emotional climax of the show, with all its tension and twists.

The history of the program

Temptation Island debuted on Canale 5 on May 19, 2005 , in the first season titled Vero amore (True Love), hosted by Maria De Filippi . After a few seasons and a hiatus, the format returned in 2014 with Filippo Bisciglia , who also hosts the most recent prime time seasons.
