Striscia la Notizia is heading toward its final closure. After 38 years on the air, the satirical news program created by Antonio Ricci will no longer appear in Mediaset's new schedules: all ratings, according to rumors, point to its cancellation.

The march toward the end has reportedly already begun: starting July 25th, all of Striscia la Notizia's social media will be taken away from Ricci's team and taken over directly by Mediaset. The accounts will be blocked and the organization will be put on vacation, as reported by journalist Claudio Plazzotta.

Numbers in decline

The program had said goodbye to access prime time in the summer of 2025, with the debut of Wheel of Fortune and record ratings. The prime time test, with five episodes starting January 22, 2026, averaged 1.912.000 viewers with a 12,8% share: numbers below expectations.

The cancellation isn't yet official. But between its absence from the schedule, its social media shutdown, and ongoing evaluations, the possibility of a farewell after 38 years seems increasingly concrete.
