Back, punctual as every year, the traditional Cantata dei Pastori with the great Peppe Barra on stage, one of the pillar theater actors of our history and tradition.

We can watch the show from 14 to 18 December 2022 at the Sannazaro Theater in Naples and with him on stage there will also be the very good Lalla Esposito, together with dozens of other talented theater actors.

The Cantata dei Pastori is a must during the Christmas holidays and Peppe Barra delights us every year with his characteristic version. This year he will stage a 'brand new edition, lasting 1 hour and 40 minutes without intermission with new costumes, scenes e music, as well as a new cast.

Of course it will always be Barra to interpret the mythical Razzullo, while Lalla Esposito will team up with him playing the famous and fun sarchiapone.

The traditional typically Neapolitan show

The Cantata dei Pastori immerses us fully in Neapolitan putting music, language, history and Neapolitan traditions at the center, merging cultured and popular, comic and sacred, deep and light, moving and comical. In short, a unique mix, just like our city is unique.

It is a real old-fashioned show in which the actors play multiple roles between various disguises that fully involve the public.

The plot of The Cantata of the Shepherds

The famous show puts two at the center of the plot “starved to death“, Razzullo and Sarchiapone. The first, in typical 700th century clothes and a scribe, happened to be in Palestine for the census requested by the Roman Emperor, the second on the run for the crimes he committed.

In all of this, the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph they wander in Palestine looking for a home to give birth to Jesus, surrounded by so many Shepherds who yearn for the coming of the Messiah.

The show will be enriched by many characters such as Devils sent by Lucifer to kill Joseph and Mary, theArchangel Gabriel armed, San Michele style, to fight the Devils, and much more.

In short, we just have to experience the show!
