At the Complex of San Lorenzo Maggiore the Echi della Rivolta event: a theatrical visit in memory of the history of Masaniello!
Sunday 19 July 2020 at 19:00 will take place at the San Lorenzo Maggiore Complex, the theatrical guided tour entitled Echoes of the Uprising, in honor of the revolt of Masaniello.
The event, organized byCultural Association NarteA, it will be a real journey through time that will lead visitors back to the distant July of 1647, when the Duke of Arcos, the Spanish viceroy, increased the taxes on fruit, a decision that triggered the discontent of the Neapolitans with a revolt whose leadership is he was a fishmonger: Masaniello.
Echoes of the Uprising
The theatrical guided tour of the San Lorenzo Maggiore complex will focus on the revolt headed Masaniello, a 27 year old Neapolitan young man.
The NarteA Association will make guests relive the intense moments of revolt, from the burning of the duty benches, to the assault on the complex of San Lorenzo Maggiore to steal the city's weapons, until Masaniello's last day in which he was killed inside the Carmine complex.
