La Signora delle Camelie, an autobiographical love story

The plot tells the tormented and almost impossible love between Marguerite Gautier and the twenty year old Armand Duval, and the choreography of the ballet on stage at the Teatro San Carlo, along with the music, will transmit to the audience the tragic inner torments, due to the pettiness of bourgeois society. The show goes beyond the fairytale atmospheres of the great classics, as stated by choreographer Derek Deane, and will evoke the most true, intense and dramatic feelings of this famous story that also inspired Giuseppe Verdi for his melodrama La Traviata.
