The last Decameron staged at the Bellini Theater in Naples is an original reinterpretation of Boccaccio's masterpiece and investigates the importance of the story.
From Tuesday 10 April 2018 will go on stage The last Decameron al Teatro Bellini of Naples, an absolute preview whose replicas will be there until May 6.
It is a work of theater-dance by Stefano Massini inspired by the famous Decamerone by Giovanni Boccaccio, a project born from the collaboration between the Foundation Teatro di San Carlo and the Fondazione Teatro di Napoli-Teatro Bellini.
Massini has proposed a personal and original reading of the Decameron in which the story of the stories will be narrated original one hundred short stories that become, for the occasion, a single short story. In this way, the original text, apparently betrayed, remains more faithful than ever. The author investigates theurgency of narrating ee emphasizes the importance of Boccaccio's reflection on the mechanisms of narration. In a society like the present one, in which each of us is continually bombarded with stories, especially on social networks, but also on traditional media, the story is the only tool that can save us.
This is why crises can have a solution and this solution is found in the narrative. Stefano Massini, instead of proposing a philological reading of the Decameron, focuses on the reasons why Boccaccio wrote this masterpiece and try to find out if his reasons can still be valid today.
Collaboration with the Teatro San Carlo
The collaboration with the direction of Massimo Napoletano will be able to launch a series of important shows that can be staged on the stage of the Teatro Bellini, opening new horizons for the public, critics and organizers.
