Return the beautiful Luminaria di San Domenico in Praiano, on the Amalfi Coast, 30 from July to August 4 2022, a traditional event loved by citizens and tourists that always attracts many people.
The appointment is mainly in Piazza San Gennaro, but also in other squares and streets, where they are lit up thousands of torches, candles and tealights which, together, will form a wonderful series of lights that will leave us amazed.
The Luminaria di San Domenico is one popular festival that has ancient origins and its purpose is to remember San Domenico. It is believed that the festival was born in the early 1600s with the arrival of the Dominican friars from Naples.

To give life to this evocative party, there are hundreds of volunteers who organize the positions of candles, lights and torches, and then light them. In this way they will take on life and light terraces, windows, courtyards, gardens of Praiano.
There will also be other events around this festival.
The program of the Luminaria di San Domenico
30 July
In piazza Antico Seggio and piazza San Luca the event "Waiting for the luminaria"At 21:30. Up to Piazza San Luca there will be many candles to decorate the drawings made by the citizens. The theme is Nature.
31 July
In Piazza San Gennaro at 22 pm there will be the opening night with Orakel, Compagnia Opera Fiamme. With the fire will create a unique show between dances, acrobatics and special effects. Admission is allowed until 22:00.
From 1st August to 3rd August
In Piazza San Gennaro from 21 pm the event "The Tradition". With the sound of the bells of the Church of Santa Maria in Castro-Convent of San Domenico and of the Church of San Gennaro there will be theignition of the candles in the square, on the convent and on the houses of Praiano. There will also be Video Mapping and the Opera Flora event with the artists who will put installations in the square to represent the warmth of the fire and the magic of floral shapes.

August 4th
In Piazza San Gennaro at 21:30 pm, for the last evening, the Boys of the Luminaria illuminate the square with the flame brought by the parish priest of the parish of San Gennaro VM There will be 3000 candles installed on the majolica decoration of Piazza San Gennaro.
