The Ocean&Climate Village exhibition arrives in Naples after the success of Milan

Ocean&Climate Village also arrives at Napoli. It is an interactive and educational exhibition dedicated to the relationship between ocean and climate, now in its third stage after the successes of Milano e Venezia.

The appointment in our city is expected from 6 12 to March, with free admission, at the Sala Italia of Castel dell'Ovo.

Ocean&Climate Village, discover the depths

experience multisensory and training of Ocean&Climate Village allows visitors to truly immerse themselves in an exciting journey into the abyss, to learn about the importance of the ocean for our planet and our future.

The show offers interactive panels, visits, free or guided, WORKSHOPS didactic, debates and meetings with experts, journalists and scientists. All jointed through eight thematic zones which delve into areas related to climate and the ocean. Visitors will also be able to admire the shots by Enzo Barracco and Giovanni Pellegrini and the samples and research tools of the CNR-Ismar.

The 8 areas of the exhibition specifically

  • Ocean Planet: the role of the ocean in climate mitigation and the connection between ocean and society.
  • A changing climate: past and future scenarios of the climate on Earth and the causes of climate change.
  • Dive into the deep blue: a trip to the Mediterranean neighborhoods to learn about marine habitats and the problem of alien species, with a focus on sea management.
  • Oceano, a big supermarket?: the Mediterranean diet, overfishing and the future of fishing, with an in-depth look at the presence of jellyfish.
  • An unquantifiable value: the rise of the sea level and its consequence on the cultural heritage, in particular of the Mediterranean and the Italian coasts.
  • The Wounds of the Ocean: sources of ocean stress such as acidification, warming, plastics and deoxygenation, with a Call to Action for ocean care.
  • Small Style Area – Ocean Generation: content dedicated to children and their questions about the exhibition and sustainability.
  • Call to Action at the Decade of the Sea: the area dedicated to the projects of the Decade of the Sea, with panels describing the manifesto and the projects of the partners.

The sensory journey, available only in Naples

An important novelty present in Naples is “Feel the Change”, a sensory journey that unites the world physical and digital to bring the blind and visually impaired people discovering the impact of the climate crisis on different ecosystems and marine organisms.

The public will be able to touch the 3D reproductions of marine species, all accompanied by audio which offers an in-depth explanation of the main characteristics of the species and of the environment in which it lives, as well as the reasons that determine its damage or disappearance.

Digital installation by designer Federico Girotto

A digital and interactive installation, Up Sea Down, is another strong point of the show. This was created for educational and informational purposes by the digital designer Frederick Girotto, in collaboration with the art developer David Santini and oceanographer Valentina Lovat.

UpSea Down explains the phenomenon of ocean volume expansion due to the global warming, offering visitors a sound, tactile and visual experience. Visitors can time travel from 1940 al 2100 and experience first-hand the sea level rise caused by global warming.

An online version is also available

The exhibition is not only a live event but is also accessible online. Thanks to platform of the Decade of the Sea, it is possible to “virtually” visit the Ocean&Climate Village from anywhere in the world. Across the dedicated website, visitors can explore the different areas of the exhibition and listen to the insights and stories of experts, illustrators and scientists.
