For the 2017 summer the San Vincenzo Molo in Naples is expected to reopen with visits on weekends.

In the last days the news of the reopening to the public of the San Vincenzo wharf in Naples starting from summer 2017 thanks to an agreement with the Navy.

During the spring, the necessary maintenance and safety work on the structure will begin, as well as the removal of waste on the pier. Later, they will be established and visits to the pier are organized, which should be scheduled on weekends and reserved not only for pedestrians, but also for cyclists.

The San Vincenzo pier is the oldest in Napoli and is one two and a half kilometer walk into the sea, with a royal dock and with breakwaters. It was designed in the 1596 by Domenico Fontana and built in the Bourbon era, of which it was the symbol of naval power.
Until the Great War it was an important defensive outpost, housing an arsenal and docks. Its recovery could be an additional economic resource for the city. As the President Pietro Spirito explained, in agreement with the institutions, the project includes three phases.

A first that will see the actual opening of the Molo ', a second with a project finaniing for its enhancement and a last phase with the destination for maritime purposes of the San Vincenzo quay.
