The submerged park of Gaiola in Naples reopens to the public

The Mayor of Naples Luigi De Magistris finally announces the opening of the Gaiola Submerged Park to the public!

The mayor of Naples Luigi De Magistris, with a post on his Facebook page, announces the Neapolitan citizens the reopening of the extraordinary submerged Park of Gaiola. 

Obviously, the area can only be accessed on booking and in compliance with all the rules established both to stem the spread of Coronavirus and to protect an archaeological asset of extraordinary importance.

The rules and behaviors to be respected

Rules to follow to access the area: 

  • Reservations are allowed only for a certain time slot (morning 9.00-13.00 or afternoon 14.00-18.00) to allow access to more people in safety
  • Access for each time slot is allowed to a maximum of 75 people (morning max 75, afternoon max 75)
  • To book you must be of age, minors can access only if accompanied by an adult
  • Each booking can be made for a maximum of 5 participants (including at least 1 adult), by entering the data required for each participant (name, surname, date of birth, type and document number)
  • It is possible to book only the day before starting at 08:00 or the same day (up to 1 hour before closing and in any case until availability is reached)
  • It is mandatory to show the booking ticket on your mobile phone or printed at the entrance to the control staff
  • It is mandatory to bring with you the identification document indicated during the booking phase (for each participant)
  • Parking in the public bathing area is allowed only and exclusively by making a reservation
  • At the end of the time slot for which you book, the area must be vacated immediately
  • It is forbidden to park vehicles on the driveway of Discesa Gaiola

  • Body temperature will be measured by infrared thermometer, and if greater than 37,5 access will be denied.
  • Maintain the interpersonal distance of at least 1 meter
  • Wear the mask if the interpersonal distance is <1 meter
  • Keep a distance of at least 1,5 meters between beach equipment (beach towels, sunbeds)
  • Keep the distance of at least 3,2 meters between the umbrellas
  • Avoid gatherings
  • Do not carry out group recreational-sports activities
  • Do not stand on the shoreline
  • Do not stay on the security corridor

Environmental protection standards

  • It is mandatory to know and comply with the regulations for the environmental and archaeological protection of the Marine Protected Area of ​​the Submerged Park of Gaiola provided for by the Interministerial Decree 07/08/2002
  • It is forbidden to bring plastic / glass bottles, cans, glasses, plastic plates into the area
  • It is forbidden to leave any type of waste in the area. Any waste must be brought back with you and deposited in the appropriate containers on the driveway
  • It is forbidden to fish or collect animal or vegetable organisms
  • It is forbidden to collect rock or archaeological formations
  • Smokers must bring pocket ashtrays

If these rules are not observed, the violators will be reported to the competent authorities e they will no longer be able to make future reservations to access the area.
