Daylight Saving Time is back, starting tomorrow 31 March the clock will move forward by one hour

After six months, tomorrow Sunday 31 March 2024, Daylight Saving Time will return. We'll have to move them clock hands ahead one hour. Let's find out all the details together: what time to do it, what are the advantages and how long it will last!
A bit of history on summer time, when was it born in Italy?
The concept of Daylight savings time it is very dated, dating back to the eighteenth century. However, as far as our country, in Italy, is concerned, this system has been adopted starting from 1916 to become definitive, however, only 50 years ago, i.e. in 1966.
There has been talk, in recent years, of abolition of summer time. In the 2018 the European Commission carried out a survey to which over 4,5 million people responded. 84% of the votes were in favor of abolition! In 2019 the date for abolition was set for 2021, leaving individual countries free to choose whether to maintain this system or not. The outbreak of the pandemic then rightly gave priority to something else so, this is it still an open question.
Daylight saving time will return on Sunday 31 March 2024
Will on the night between Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st March 2024 and Daylight saving time will return to effect again in Italy. Exactly at 2:00 in the morning we will have to move the clock forward an hour e it will therefore be 3:00. No need to update, as usual, for all devices connected to the internet the change will take place automatically.
Do you sleep more or less?
This is one of the first questions we ask ourselves when the time changes: do we sleep more or less? In the case of the return of summer time, the answer is unfavorable to us. We'll sleep an hour less even if, on the other hand, we will gain an extra hour of light with all the advantages that this brings with it.
First of all we are talking about a notable energy savings since the longer duration of natural lighting reduces the need to resort to artificial one. And what about the greater safety on the road linked to greater visibility? On the other hand, it seems, the changes could negatively affect sleep with consequent repercussions on our productivity.
When will Standard Time return?
Although it isn't over yet at the time of writing, you're already wondering When will solar time return? Well, barring program changes (which could always occur) the date to return to the current time has already been set night between Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October 2024.
