Eclipse of the Moon

The 27 July 2018 there will be a rare total lunar eclipse, the longest of the century. Here's where to look at it from Naples!

Friday July 27 2018 there will be alunar eclipse very rare also observable from Italy, including Naples, and it will be the eclipse longer than the century. This astronomical phenomenon is highly anticipated also because there will be theopposition to Mars and the planet will be visible, moreover the Moon will be dyed a little red.

This eclipse will be one of five planned for this year and it will start from 19.14 pm (although it will not be visible from Italy at this time) to end at about 1.30 am. The total eclipse will start around 22.20pm to last until 23.12pm, but both before and after we will be able to enjoy the partial eclipses which will last about 1 hour.

As said, too from Naples we will be able to observe this beautiful phenomenon, and we want to recommend the best places to admire it, including a beautiful event in the Capodimonte Astronomical Observatory. Meanwhile, we report the various precise phases of the eclipse.

Phases of the total lunar eclipse
