The square

Piazza Carità, already largo della Carità, Piazza Carlo Poerio and Piazza Costanzo Ciano, is located in the historic center of Naples near the Pignasecca, Spanish Neighborhoods and of the Carità district.

Since its construction, in conjunction with via Toledo, the square has been fully integrated into the city life with a bustle market but which was reduced at the beginning of the nineteenth century and limited to the sale of food.

Neo 1887 was placed in the monument a Carlo Poerio in order to remember the clashes that occurred there with the motions of the '48. In 1939 the statue was moved to Piazza San Pasquale in Chiaia and the square was named after Costanzo Ciano, but his monument was later replaced in the 1971 with that of Except for Purchase, vicebrigadiere and national hero.
