The Church of S. Anna a Capuana in Naples

Church of Sant'Anna a Capuana in Naples

The Church

The church of S. Anna a Capuana was founded by the Monks in the 1513, which entrusted it to the friars of the convent of San Francesco di Paola, nearby.

In 1563 the chapel was finally ceded to the conventual friars. Friar Gaspare Crispo became its perpetual guardian and is known for being a friend of the Pope Sixtus V and he was often called to Rome. The friar had a new convent built next to the church, in which he lived the last period of his life. The church was enlarged to a design by the architect Giuseppe Astarita between the 1745 and the 1751.

The works

In the church there are works by Giovanni Cosenza, Francesco Narici, Giovanni da Nola, Antonio Antonino de Marco, Berardino de Palma and Marco Cardisco.

You can admire it besides two organs built in I753 by Carlo and Nicola Mancini, famous Neapolitan organ builders.
