Turning Point: The 9/11 Generation, Now on Netflix

Starting today, Wednesday, September 2nd, the documentary Turning Point: The 9/11 Generation , directed by Brian Knappenberger , is available on Netflix . Twenty-five years after the attacks, the film reflects on how 9/11 shaped an entire generation, recounting the unresolved consequences of that day.

The story starts from the voices of those who were there

The documentary opens with firsthand accounts and archival materials from September 11, 2001: telephone calls, survivors' memories, and family stories bring us back to the hours that changed the United States and the world. The focus then shifts to the victims' children , who have grown up with grief inherited from childhood, amid the war on terror, mass surveillance, and prejudice faced by Muslim communities.

There is also space for online conspiracy theories , one of the most destabilizing legacies of the post-attacks period, up to the final section that reaches Afghanistan and the chaotic American withdrawal of 2021, told by young Afghans and Marines: the traumatic conclusion of a twenty-year war.

The voices of the documentary

Narrator Josh Brolin . The testimonies include Laurel Homer , daughter of LeRoy Homer Jr., first officer on United Flight 93, and An Nguyen , son of a Pentagon engineer killed on September 11th. Also featured are Brooklyn entrepreneur Mohammad Razvi , a symbol of the change experienced by American Muslims, and Obaidullah Durani , a former Afghan military pilot separated from his family during the evacuation of Kabul.

Turning Point is one hour and 37 minutes long and is available exclusively on Netflix starting today.
