From 30 October at 2 November 2025 Naples welcomes the fourth edition of Uànema – Celebration of the Other Living, the cultural review promoted by the City of Naples which explores the profound connection between the city and the theme of the afterlife. The event unites art, popular faith, folklore and philosophy, offering an ironic and poetic vision of death, experienced not as an end but as part of the eternal dialogue between the living and the "other living." The events will be held at various symbolic locations around the city, in an itinerary that intertwines legends, stories, and rituals of Neapolitan tradition.

What is the Feast of the Other Living?

“Uànema” represents a journey into the symbolic heart of Naples, where the memory of the deceased coexists with everyday life. The initiative invites us to rediscover the traditions linked to the cult of the poor souls, To historic cemeteries and popular rites that for centuries have chronicled the city's relationship with death. The event offers meetings, guided tours, and theatrical performances to reflect lightly and profoundly on a theme that, in Neapolitan parlance, becomes an opportunity for irony and awareness.

A "Neapolitan hyper-Halloween", as the organizers call it, where souls and ghosts don't frighten but accompany, reminding us that the line between life and death is subtle and continually crossed by the city's stories. Laughing with the dead, in Neapolitan culture, means accepting the cyclical nature of existence and freeing oneself from one's deepest fears.

Who is the event aimed at?

The event is open to all: citizens, curious onlookers, tourists, and lovers of popular culture. Uànema's events are designed to offer a collective experience that combines storytelling, music, and theater. The itineraries among the underground places, holy lands and monumental cemeteries they become experiences of knowledge and participation, in which memory is intertwined with contemporary creativity.

For visitors, it will also be an opportunity to discover an authentic part of the city, far from traditional tourist routes, but deeply rooted in its spiritual and popular identity.

The exhibition will take place from Thursday, October 30, to Sunday, November 2, 2025, with appointments spread throughout the day.
