Road and transport in Naples today, August 1st: closures and updates

Saturday 1 August 2026 brings great news for those travelling to Naples: in addition to the summer construction sites of ANM on the metro and funiculars, the city prepares for the Blue Procession For the Centenary of Napoli Calcio, large areas of the historic center will be closed to traffic this afternoon and evening. Here's the full list of closures, diversions, and service changes for today.

🟢 SUBWAYS

Sulla Line 1 track renewal works continue: the stations of Piscinola, Chiaiano e Frullone remain closed until September 13th, with special one-way runs in the morning (6:00-8:00 towards Colli Aminei) and in the evening (21:50-23:40 in the opposite direction) and replacement bus shuttles between Piscinola, Chiaiano, Frullone, Policlinico and Colli Aminei. The second exits are also closed until September 6th. Montecalvario, Montedonzelli, Grass Street e Rione AltoAccess is only through the main entrance. This weekend, the extended Friday and Saturday night services are still active (last service until 2:00 a.m.). The suspension will begin on Friday, August 7th. Line 6 Regular today, but from August 10th to 23rd the service will end at 1.50pm from both Mostra and Municipio.

🟢 TRAINS

No critical issues reported today on the railway network, but attention remains high after the 4.7 magnitude earthquake which hit the Campi Flegrei. Immediately after the earthquake EAV had suspended circulation on Cumana e Circumflegrea for infrastructure checks: service was subsequently restored on both lines. On EAV's Vesuvian network, this morning the train 6072 with 07:14 from Sarno to Naples is deleted from San Valentino to Naples. Maintenance work continues on some stations of the Line 2: before leaving, it is advisable to check real-time updates on official channels.

🟢 BUSES AND TRAMS

The summer timetable remains in effect for the surface network. Please note: canceled races today on the bus service EAV: between the lines involved 913 (La Schiana-Toiano-Pozzuoli Hospital), 002 (Naples-Nola-Monteforte), 924 (Caivano-Afragola-Piscinola), 971 (Grumo-Scampia-Naples), 922 (Afragola-Piscinola), 008 (Meta-Massalubrense), 178 (Ischia line 8), 106 (Tecchio Square-Monterusciello) and 010 (Naples-Carbonara-Sarno). Be careful with the funiculars: Mergellina It will remain closed until August 31st (today is the last day) with a shuttle bus. 621 in place of service; Montesanto is closed for the twenty-year general overhaul, with a replacement shuttle from piazza Vanvitelli in the center from 6:30 to 21:00. Regular, with night extensions confirmed on weekends, the funiculars Centrale e ChiaiaIn the afternoon and evening, bus routes may be diverted to the historic center for Centenary events.

🟢 TRAFFIC

It's the highlight of the day Centenary of Napoli Football: alle 19:26 part of Piazza Carità the Blue Procession, which will travel via Toledo, St. Brigid Street, Verdi street, Via San Carlo, Piazza Trieste and Trento maximum Piazza del PlebiscitoApproximately one kilometer of the historic center will be pedestrianized: traffic closures and parking restrictions will be in place from the early afternoon. The official ceremony will take place at 20:45 PM in Piazza del Plebiscito, followed by the Notte Azzurra (Blue Night) and, at midnight, fireworks on the Lungomare (seafront). Those who must drive through the area are encouraged to use alternative routes and peripheral parking. Last night, A56 ring road had closures for seismic adaptation works: sections Capodichino Airport/Customs e Agnano/Cuma Westbound/Pozzuoli motorways closed until 6:00 a.m., with the Secondigliano, Capodichino, and Agnano junctions affected. At the time of publication, no other issues were reported on the motorway network.

🟢 STRIKES

No local public transport strike is planned in Naples today, August 1st. The next national strike will involve the helicopter sector on August 4th and will not affect urban transport.
