Road and transport in Naples today, September 2, 2026: closures and updates

Daily updates on the metro, trains, buses, and roads in Naples: closures continue on Line 1 and interruptions on Line 2 and the Cumana line , while Line 7 is operating normally after resuming yesterday.

subways

Work continues on Line 1 : the Piscinola , Chiaiano, and Frullone stations remain closed , with reopening scheduled for September 13th, and replacement shuttle buses operating between Piscinola and Colli Aminei. The second exits on Via dell'Erba, Rione Alto II, Montecalvario, and Montedonzelli also remain closed until September 6th. The Mergellina funicular remains closed, with replacement shuttle bus 621 operating; the Montesanto funicular also stops . Line 6 remains normal.

trains

Traffic is normal on Line 7 between Soccavo and Monte Sant'Angelo , which resumed yesterday after summer work. On Line 2 , the Pozzuoli-Campi Flegrei section remains suspended (since June 21, due to bradyseismic phenomena in the Phlegraean Fields area), with replacement buses in operation; RFI construction work at the Piazza Amedeo station remains ongoing until September 4. The Cumana line between Bagnoli and Torregaveta remains suspended following the earthquake of July 31, with replacement bus service in operation. The Circumflegrea and Circumvesuviana trains continued to operate without interruptions this morning; yesterday, delays occurred on some Vesuvian services (trains 11737 to Sorrento, 4167 to Poggiomarino, 81405 to Baiano, 6111 to Sarno) and on the replacement bus for the 18:00 PM train 3786 from Naples to Benevento. Work on the suburban lines to Piedimonte Matese by RFI continues in Santa Maria Capua Vetere (until September 7th, limited service between Piedimonte Matese and Sant'Angelo in Formis); trains 7857, 7873, 7875, 7858, 7876, and 7878 remain canceled until September 13th, replaced by D'Agostino buses. Service at the Naples railway hub will continue as scheduled, according to Trenitalia.

Bus and tram

ANM shuttle buses connecting the closed stations on Line 1 and shuttle 621 to the Mergellina funicular are running. There are no new reports of cancellations for EAV bus services this morning. The EAV elevators at the Soccavo (from 10:30 a.m. to 16:30 p.m.), Quarto Centro (from 10:30 a.m. to 16:30 p.m.), and Pianura (from 16:30 p.m. to 11:23 p.m.) stations are out of service today; on the Naples – Aversa Metro Line, elevator NA 153 at the Aversa Centro stop remains out of service (since yesterday, until further notice).

Ship and hydrofoils

No cancellations reported for sea connections to Capri , Ischia and Procida : regular trips for Alilauro, Caremar and Medmar.

How to move in Naples

New nighttime closures on the A56 ring road between tonight and tomorrow (23:00 PM - 6:00 AM): Capodimonte West Tunnel with closure of the Capodichino Airport/Capodimonte section towards Pozzuoli (mandatory Capodichino Airport/Secondigliano exit) and Solfatara East Tunnel with closure of the Arco Felice/Agnano section towards the motorways (mandatory Arco Felice/Pozzuoli exit). During the same time period, the entrance and exit of the Corso Malta junction towards the motorways will also be closed for infrastructure inspections.

Strikes

No public transport strikes are scheduled for today. Note the 24-hour national rail transport strike between September 7th and 8th, the ANM rail strike (metro) on September 15th (12:45-16:45 PM), and the Air Campania strike on September 28th (8-12).

From tomorrow

The scheduled closures of the Capodimonte West tunnel and the Solfatara East tunnel on the A56 (11:00 PM - 6:00 AM) will continue during the night between September 3rd and 4th. The EAV lifts at Quarto Centro (4:30 PM - 11:11 PM), Soccavo (10:30 AM - 23:16 PM) and Pianura (23:30 PM - 23:16 PM) will be out of service tomorrow. Construction work at the Piazza Amedeo station on Line 2 will end on September 23th ; the second exits on Line 1 will remain closed until September 6th.
