Tuesday, September 8, 2026, will be marked by a national rail transport strike, which will run from 21:18 PM yesterday until 21:00 PM today. This will include possible delays and cancellations on regional trains, the Frecce train, and Line 2. Meanwhile, summer closures on Line 1, disruptions in the Phlegraean Fields, and nighttime construction work on the Tangenziale (ring road) will continue. Here's the full schedule for the day.

🟢 SUBWAYS

The summer closure of Line 1 continues: the Piscinola , Chiaiano, and Frullone stations remain closed until September 13th for railway track renovations, with ANM shuttle buses replacing the Piscinola–Colli Aminei route (approximately every 10 minutes). The second exits on Via dell'Erba, Rione Alto II, Montecalvario, and Montedonzelli reopened yesterday after the scheduled closure until September 6th. Line 6 and Line 7 Soccavo–Monte Sant'Angelo , which returned to service on September 1st after the summer renovations, are operating as normal.

Traffic on Line 2 (Trenitalia) is at risk today due to the national strike: essential services are guaranteed between 6:00 and 9:00 am and 18:00 and 21:00 pm. The suspension of the Pozzuoli – Campi Flegrei route , which has been in place since June 21 due to bradyseismic phenomena and work on the Flegrea tunnel, remains in effect, with replacement buses.

🟢 TRAINS

On the Cumana line, the Bagnoli–Torregaveta route , which has been in operation since the earthquake of July 31st, remains closed, with a replacement bus service that also stops at the new former Cappuccini station. According to EAV, the entire Torregaveta–Montesanto connection will resume operations on September 11th , when the new Pozzuoli station opens. No new warnings were issued today for the Vesuvius Lines (delays of up to 40 minutes for some trains yesterday evening) or the Circumflegrea line. Aside from the strike, regular service is available at the Naples railway hub.

🟢 BUSES AND TRAMS

The EAV lifts in Soccavo (Phlegraean Lines, 4:30–10:30 and 16:30–23:11), Piave (Phlegraean Lines, 10:30–16:30), and Volla (Vesuvian Lines, 6:30–13:30) are out of service today. On the ANM side, the Mergellina (substitute shuttle bus 621) and Montesanto funiculars remain closed , having been shut down since May for an overhaul. The Faito cable car has not been affected. The EAV Autolinee portal currently has no cancellations announced for today: details of unguaranteed journeys can be found on the Canceled Journeys page.

🟢 SHIP AND HYDROFOILS

No cancellations reported for ferry connections to Capri, Ischia, and Procida: regular services for Alilauro, Caremar, and Medmar, with stable weather and sea conditions in the Gulf.

🟢 TRAFFIC

Temporary traffic restrictions will continue on Lungomare Caracciolo for the Louis Vuitton Preliminary Regatta until October 5th . Cycle paths will be closed and traffic will be modified on Viale Anton Dohrn and Via Caracciolo. From September 21st to 27th, a traffic ban will be in place between Viale Dohrn and Piazza Vittoria. The traffic ban on Via Nunziatella (Municipality 1) will remain in effect until September 18th due to road resurfacing work. The Naples Ring Road (A56) will continue to be closed at night (11:00 PM–6:00 AM) from September 7th to 13th. Work will be carried out on the Capodimonte Est and Vomero Ovest tunnels and the Viale Ruffo underpass, with mandatory exits and designated alternative routes. 🟢 STRIKES

A nationwide strike by FS Italiane Group staff (both on and off-board), called by CUB Trasporti, SGB, and other trade unions, is underway until 9:00 PM today . Trenitalia, Trenitalia Tper, and Italo are also participating. Cancellations and delays are possible on regional trains, Frecce, and Linea 2; essential regional services are guaranteed during the guaranteed time slots between 6:00 AM and 21:00 AM and 18:00 PM and 21:00 PM.
