Guided tour of the Trentatré Monastery of Naples

History, art and faith will be the protagonists of the suggestive guided tour at the Monastery of the Trentatré in Naples!

The Monastery of Santa Maria in Gerusalemme of Naples, known as the Monastery of the Thirty-Three, will exceptionally open its doors for a fascinating guided tour.

The appointment is set for Sunday February 22 2015 with the start point set at the historic Pharmacy of the Incurable.

The interesting historical, artistic and religious journey, organized by the Cultural Association Curiocity, will guide the participants on a tour that will start from the beauties of the former Neapolitan hospital, the former refectory and the cellars and then end in the atrium and in the monastery church.

This structure, founded in the 500 by the noblewoman Maria Lorenza Longo and placed on the hill Caponapoli, in the heart of a historic Greek-Roman citadel.

An opportunity to know not only prestigious works of art, but also a new and fascinating cultural reality of Naples: the most religious side of all, that of the monastic life. In fact, the structure is a guest of a small community of nuns, about thirty-three precisely, who live in close enclosure according to the historical canons dictated by Santa Chiara, the governess of the order to which they belong.

Therefore, at the Monastery of Santa Maria in Gerusalemme, time will seem to have stopped and we will suddenly find ourselves catapulting in 1500, between the uses and customs of a Ancient Naples that is always alive and that continues to make people talk about themselves. Not to be missed.
