Vittorio Sgarbi VS Swiss police: it's controversy, that's what happened

Vittorio Sgarbi against the Swiss police

Country you go to, custom you find: a concept that, apparently, is unknown to Vittorio Sgarbi. Returning from the Locarno International Film Festival, arrived at the customs office in Chiasso-Brogeda, the art critic used the priority flashing light… but in Switzerland it is only granted to emergency vehicles such as firefighters, ambulances and police. A fine of 500 euros for him, but the "goat fan" continues the brawl in the Italian press and on Facebook, up to a direct confrontation with the Councilor of State Norman Gobbi.

A famous popular saying goes "Country you go, custom you find"... a concept that, apparently, Vittorio Sgarbi He does not know.

As he was returning from the Locarno International Film Festival, the art critic, who arrived at the Chiasso-Brogeda customs office, to overcome a column of cars waiting to leave for Italy, thought it best to put on the priority flashing light… believing that it was also valid in Switzerland.

Pinched by the Swiss border guards, Sgarbi, for his "stunt", had to pay a fine of 500 euros ... and believing that he was the victim of abuse, as soon as he returned to Italy, he hurled himself in a video against the Swiss police ( later canceled), defining her as bully and liar, and loudly promising that she would never set foot in Switzerland again.

Vittorio Sgarbi and the response of the Councilor of State Norman Gobbi to the brawl

The Councilor of State Norman Gobbi, who in the Canton of Ticino is also responsible for the management of the Swiss police and the security of the territory, seeing the work of the Swiss border guards in the Italian press put in a bad light, wrote on his official Facebook profile:

“Rules are rules for everyone. This is Switzerland and the Canton of Ticino, Mr. Sgarbi, where the deputies do not have "blue cars" and even less equipped with priority flashing lights, a privilege granted only to emergency response agencies that are - they and not you - at the service of the whole community . Education is also knowing how to admit when you are wrong, without unfairly judging a country, which, fortunately, works. Good everything. "

Even in the face of the evidence of having broken the law of a foreign country, and having made a mistake, Vittorio Sgarbi the controversy continued, going so far as to write harsh words against Gobbi:

“Mr. Gobbi wants to give a lesson, but he gets the wrong address. The responsibilities are individual, and evidently Mr. Gobbi wants to tell me that he made the mistake of my police officer who felt he was doing his duty to him. Even in Italy, deputies do not have blue cars and "priority flashing lights", but some magistrates or mayors or other representatives, threatened by the mafia, have protection, established by the Ministry of the Interior, and consequent safety devices, which do not depend on their will. For not having had them again, Marco Biagi was killed. Difficult to understand for those who, to attack me, as a known person, exactly like the mafia does, scold my agent who, beyond the borders, did his duty, not at my request. His friend Salvini is also escorted. It's about security, not privileges. Mr. Gobbi is also equivocal about public safety, when he says that "flashing lights are a privilege granted only to emergency response agencies". But go there! They are not a privilege, much less mine, but an instrument of protection for those who are exposed and for those who are threatened, and to intervene if necessary. Mr. Gobbi mistakes it for an option, for my amusement. For him, even the mafia is an optional, which stops at the border with Switzerland. And my agent, offended by his police who see no dangers a hundred meters from Italy, an electrician who has fun with the lights. The cantonal police considered only the abstract rules, and not the reasons for respect and protection for those who represent a friendly country, and came as a guest for a festival directed by an Italian, where artists have priority for who they are and represent. I, in Italy, Mr. Gobbi, with or without an agent's flashing lights, would have hosted and honored him. "

Vittorio Sgarbi in Controcorrente tells of his misadventure in Switzerland, but not all agree with him

Not happy, Vittorio Sgarbi not only did he pull the Italian Embassy out of the way, asking to be defended from what he said was an abuse of power, but he also increased the dose of countercurrent, where he recounted the misadventure.

Too bad though (and fortunately) that not everyone thinks like him: many Italians, speaking in the comments on the official profile of Norman Gobbi, wrote that the Swiss border guards did well to fine him and that in Italy parliamentarians really enjoy too many privileges.

A user, commenting on the story, also wrote:

“They treat us for what we show to the world. Mafia, corrupt and sold thanks to you parliamentarians who do not know how to assert a wonderland like Italy. And so we all lose out. "
