Il new mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi hypothesized to reformulate the options for closing the so-called Lungomare suddenly freedo, speaking of a return to the circulation of cars.

At the moment, in reality, there is already a temporary return of cars due to the closure of the Vittoria Gallery which is causing a lot of inconvenience to citizens. Previously, however, during the entire De Magistris administration, the section between Piazza Vittoria and Via Acton had been totally pedestrianized.

The hypothesis of the reopening of the Lungomare to cars

Gaetano Manfredi explained that it could be it is necessary to restore circulation on the Lungomare, despite believing that the traffic load in some areas of Naples must necessarily be reduced.

The Lungomare, however, according to the words of the new mayor, cannot remain constantly pedestrian, but in some moments, such as weekend ed some hours of the day, it can be pedestrianized because it is a very pleasant place for walks, both for citizens and for tourists.

The need for a traffic and transport plan

Manfredi also spoke of the need to have a suitable traffic plan and done “in a very technical way” after the opening of the Vittoria Gallery.

Furthermore, for Naples it is fundamental also improve the quality of transport, beginning with the arrival of the new subway trains. It is hoped that they will arrive soon and that they can be put into operation as soon as possible, overcoming the problems related to the authorizations of the Ministry of Transport.

Improving public transport would be essential to allow pedestrianization because it would allow citizens to move more easily.
