Caravaggio between lights and shadows on stage at the former Peace Hospital

The Millarcum project stages the last part of the life of the painter Caravaggio, bringing to light the shadows that surround the artist's death

Theater meets art thanks to Millarcum experimental project by Maurizio Merolla, Ilio Stellato and Antonello Di Martino, who stage moments, places and illustrious personalities of the past linked to Naples. This time they will revive within the 'Theater of Events, one of the most restless Italian artists: the painter Michelangelo Merisi, in art Caravaggio, , who lived his last days in the city of Naples.

The authors of the theatrical show “Caravaggio lights and shadows”Have reconstructed in the smallest details in the Lazzaretto room in the former Hospital of Peace, the Locanda del Cerriglio, which was located in a disreputable area and was a tavern of refreshment, banquets, fights and entertainment, frequented by artists (including Caravaggio), travelers and bizarre characters of Naples in the seventeenth century, popolana and fervid politically and culturally.

The set design is set up like a movie set as if it were 'a chamber cinema', where the spectators are involved interactively and emotionally, retracing the historical seventeenth century in an innovative way and discovering some dark sides on the death of Caravaggio.

In collaboration with Millarcum there is the Mani e Vulcani Association, which at each show will welcome spectators on the set and at the end of the performance, offer tastings and toasts in the company of the actors of the Theater Company. A truly unique and unrepeatable event.
