Recognized as one of the monuments masterpiece of the city of Naples, between the most beautiful churches of the huge Neapolitan park, the church of finally reopens its doors to the public San Giovanni a Carbonara.

A masterpiece known all over the world and still today studied by researchers and scholars from every corner of the globe and paradoxically a bit mistreated by the Neapolitan people.

An awaited return after many closures

At first, before the major works, the church's openings were extremely sporadic, but now there is the intention to leave it open to the public every day of the week.

As many as 18 months of closure, however, to allow the completion of the works of considerable importance, many tourists were disappointed.

Closed since 2019 for works on the facade and chapels: what were the works

The works were carried out by the Superintendency of Public Works for Campania, Molise, Basilicata and Puglia and concentrated on:

  • Facade
  • Chapels of Eboli of Castropignano and Caracciolo of Vico and Sum
  • Miroballo Altar
  • Monumental staircase

Starting in March 2021 and ending this month, they lasted 18 months in which a short suspension is also included.

Artistic external night lighting activated

As part of the intervention on the façade and on the chapel, external lighting was also included, to be activated at night to allow you to enjoy this masterpiece even in the evening.
