Dario Sansone, frontman of the band Foja, announced the start of his project soloist through a post on Instagram, sharing his enthusiasm and gratitude for the support he has received over the years with fans. And no, his new path does not mean that he will leave the Foja.

Samson revealed that he was at the work on a large amount of new songs, the result of a period of deep research and study. The new compositions were born out of discomfort and desire, and they represent an evolution in sound and in the themes addressed by the artist. The musician underlined the importance of a pure artistic approach, in a moment of turbo-capitalism, as a tool for communicating emotions and thoughts.

The Foja don't stop

Despite the new solo project, Samson assured that the Foja will continue their activity and they're touring this summer, so it's not goodbye, it's just one split career! The band, formed in 2006, is composed by Dario Sansone (vocals and guitar), Ennio Frongillo (electric guitar), Giuliano Falcone (electric bass) and Giovanni Schiattarella (drums).

The story of the Fojas

La Story of the Foja starts from the tradition of the Neapolitan Power of the seventies, a musical movement that revolutionized Italian music. He blended blues, funk, jazz and Neapolitan melody in a flow of notes and emotions born from listening to American music and old Neapolitan melodic repertoire. The various Pino Daniele, Tullio De Piscopo, James Senese, Enzo Avitabile, Toni Esposito are just some of the artists which they threw the basics of what would become one of the most innovative musical trends in Italian history.

From that revolution, over the years, other big musical realities such as the Almamegretta and the 24 Grana were born and raised in Naples. And then, in 2006, are born i Foja, a band that has been able to collect the legacy of the groups that have made and are still writing the history of Italian music, seen from Naples.

Il band name, “Foja”, it's not just a game of words with “foga”but represents something burning inside, but does not consume but turns on, is the neurotic vitality of our days and more than a simple name it turns out to be a manifesto. Foja have the ability to counteract anger and slight melancholy with strength and enthusiasm through notes and words; to sonority folk rock that look overseas are flanked by texts in Neapolitan dialect that open windows on everyday life and its chiaroscuro.
