Gianluigi "Gigio" Donnarumma has now entered the legend after Italy's victory at the European Football Championships: it was decreed the best footballer of the whole tournament and indeed his performance has been phenomenal in every match, even more so against England.
In the final of 11 July 2021 our goalkeeper saved the last penalty kicked by the English making us go down in history and making the Azzurri win the Cup that had not arrived since 1968. Not only that, because excluding the unfortunate goal conceded in the first minutes, Italy has no longer conceded other goals during regular time also because Donnarumma parried any shot and became a real fortress.
Not only luster to the national team, however, but also great pride in Campania because Donnarumma is from Castellammare di Stabia, in the province of Napoli, and already in the town they are in great celebration. Recall, however, that too other players from Italy are from Naples or the province and made us proud.

Meanwhile, in the streets and on the premises it is big party and after the final there was no shortage of fireworks of course.
Moving between Castellammare and its surroundings, they can be seen everywhere photo of the goalkeeper, especially in its places of training. Between Castellammare di Stabia and Gragnano there is the la football school where he grew up, the school of goalkeepers from which Gennaro Iezzo also came out.
There is no lack of enthusiasm in the bar Aida Coffee, frequented daily by Gigio's father, who today offered breakfast to everyone with great emotion. At the tables, of course, all we talk about is his performance and the beautiful victory in the final.
Donnarumma's phenomenal career
Born in 1999, Gianluigi Donnarumma grew up in Calcio Club Napoli school of Castellammare di Stabia and he made his debut in Serie A at a very young age, just 16 years when he became the starting goalkeeper of Milan thanks to Filippo Inzaghi who immediately noticed his qualities by making him sit on the bench in the main team. That year, 2016, he won the Supercoppa Italiana with his team and, in the same year, he also made his debut in the national team under-21 and in the senior national team.
In 2020 it was included in the AIC team of the year (Italian Football Association) and was voted by the Lega Serie A as the best goalkeeper of the 2020-2021 season. As already mentioned, he was also awarded as the best player of the Europeans.
Thanks to his performance he could also win the Golden Ball.
The future in Paris Saint Germain
Now a great career awaits him: from the next championship will be the goalkeeper of Paris Saint Germain and will also point to win the Champions League. His choice to leave Milan has been criticized several times, but the move to another great international club can only be a good thing and Gigio will certainly make life difficult for all his opponents.
