The dreaded State Exam 2023 is approaching and the final year students are preparing to face what it represents a fundamental step in their educational path.
This year, it's finally back to the classics face-to-face exam, after a period of distance teaching and the temporary abolition of written tests.

The rehearsal calendar: prepare as best you can

Exams will begin on 21 June, punctually at 8:30, with the Italian test, common to all institutes.
Students have a wide range of choices available, including different types and themes.

More precisely, the ministry proposes seven tracks that range between different areas:

  • Artistic
  • Literary
  • Historical
  • Philosophical
  • Scientific
  • Technological
  • Economic
  • Social

The students they have six hours to complete the test, putting their skills and competences to the test.

Subsequently, the second test will be dedicated to the characteristic subjects of each field of study, which may vary according to the institution and the course of study.

The oral interview: not only knowledge, but skills

At the end of the written tests, proceed with the oral interview, a question and answer session in which the commission will be able to evaluate both the educational, cultural and professional profile of the candidate, and the ability to connect and integrate the knowledge acquired.

Test rules: what is allowed and what is not

During the written tests, the use of some tools it is strictly forbidden:

  • phones
  • Smartphone
  • Smartwatch
  • Devices capable of consulting files or sending photographs and images
  • Ipads and the like
  • Infrared or ultraviolet light equipment

The only tool allowed is the scientific and/or graphic calculator.
Failure to comply with these rules will result in exclusion from all exams.

Final score: how it is calculated

The final grade of the State Exam is calculated on the basis of various components:

  • School credit (max 40 points)
  • First written (max 20 points)
  • Second written (max 20 points)
  • Interview (max 20 points)

Furthermore, the assignment of a "bonus" of 5 points for those who are entitled. The sum of all these points determines the final mark of the exam, with a maximum of 100 points and a chance to get praise.

However, to pass the exam you must reach at least 60 points.
