Religious celebrations and events at the 2016 Piedigrotta Festival in Naples.
From the 3 12 2016 September in Naples the secular will take place Feast of the Madonna of Piedigrotta.
Our city's devotion to the Our Lady of Grace, venerated with the name of "Madonna di Piedigrotta", dates back to the foundation of the modest sanctuary built by the fishermen and sailors of Mergellina, above the panoramic and silent hill of Posillipo, as a sign of respect and so that the Virgin could proliferate their commercial activity and guaranteed abundant fishing.
The religious celebration then assumed a character of popular celebration and is accompanied by a show of fireworks on Lungomare.
Currently the program runs between liturgical events and moments of collective prayer up to final procession.
During, at the parish hall, one will be set up charity fishing.
