Tonight, 17th April 2023, returns to early evening su Rai1 the beloved television series “Il commissario Montalbano” with a new series of replicas. The series, based on the novels of Andrea Camilleri, has as its main actor Luca Zingaretti. For the occasion, the episode “The arancini of Montalbano“, one of the first films broadcast by Rai in theautumn of the 2002.

The episode boasts the direction by Alberto Sironi and a cast talented, including Luca Zingaretti, Katharina Bohm, Cesare Bocci, Peppino Mazzotta, Angelo Russo, Davide Lo Verde, Marco Cavallaro, Roberto Nobile, Carmela Gentile, Giovanni Guardiano, Marcello Perracchio, Isabel Sollman, Giacinto Ferro, Ciccio Sineri, Gigio Morra and Barbara Mautino.
The intriguing plot of "Montalbano's arancini"
The story begins with the discovery of corpi of Commendatore Pagnozzi and his young wife Stefania, both lifeless inside their car which crashed into an escarpment. At first, one thinks of a accident banal, but some curious details raise suspicions.
One of them is the mystery of broken nails by Stephanie. She is the second wife of Pagnozzi, a builder in business with the Mafia, and she married him out of financial interest. The heir to Pagnozzi's fortunes is his son Giacomo, an indolent young man full of resentment against his father.
On the evening of the accident, the Pagnozzi villa is robbed and suspicion falls on the Albanian workers who work in the Pagnozzi shipyards and are renovating the villa. Among the belongings of one of them, Ilir, a stolen object is found.
Commissioner Bonetti Alderighi believes he has solved the case: the Albanians would have robbed the villa and then killed the Pagnozzi spouses, simulating the accident. However, Montalbano senses that the truth is diverse. A mysterious one audio cassette reveals to him a phone call between Stefania and Pagnozzi's son, in which they plan to get rid of their father in order to live their love.
But Pasquale, the son of Montalbano's cleaning lady and the true culprit of the theft in the villa, does not recognize Giacomo as the man seen maneuvering the car on the evening of the accident. If Giacomo is not responsible, who was Stefania addressing in the phone call? Montalbano, investigating Pagnozzo's links with the cosca of the Sinagras, manages to shed light on the events.
Montalbano decides to talk to the old don Balduccio to learn more i ties of Pagnozzi with organized crime. From him she discovers that thirty years earlier, a beautiful maid of the Pagnozzis had been estranged from the engineer's wife. The pregnant woman had found work with a lawyer in Montelusa.
Thanks to this information and his instinct, Montalbano reconstructs the course of events and reveal the hidden truth behind the apparent incident. His intuition and his investigative talent allow him to solve yet another case in his beloved land of Sicily.
