How to participate in the fantastic Imago comics and graphics competition of Comicon 2019 in Naples! This year in partnership with Città della Scienza and with special prizes!
Imago is the famous comics and graphics competition intended for everyone that takes place every year at Comicon of Naples, in Mostra d'Oltremare, from an idea of the writer Maurizio Ponticello. For the 2019 edition, the theme concerns "Superheroes of Science”And is enriched by the collaboration of the Foundation Idis-City of Science.
An important partnership that gives even greater depth to Imago and that makes it even more evident bond, always existing, between superheroes and science. As we all know, in fact, almost always the powers of our heroes and their enemies derive from scientific experiments and, if on the one hand these powers involve great responsibilities regarding the protection of citizens and cities, on the other they are a great danger.
This year's Imago competition turns out to be particular because it proposes a theme on superheroes, but including an original and also very current enemy: theIgnorance. One wonders indeed, how could modern superheroes defeat the great enemy of ignorance if not using Science, Knowledge and Culture? Here are the details of what the competition requires. We report, however, a very important detail: i professionals cannot possibly participate.
Objective of the Imago 2019 competition
Through their designs, participants must create a Superhero of Science who personifies attention to technology and science, giving life to characters that daily carry out experiments and always new ways to improve the quality of our life. The Superhero has age, sex, ethnicity etc. at the participant's choice and can be also inspired by the great men and women of the history of science. The important thing is that he embodies a figure who stimulates the new generations to solve the great current problems such as pollution, hunger, the onset of new diseases and climate change.
How to participate in the Imago competition
To partecipate, the adhesion form, present in the announcement, must be completed.
Imago is open to students of educational institutions of all levels, hobbyists, drawing enthusiasts, of the comic, of illustration and graphics. We repeat that it is absolutely impossible for professionals of any kind and level to participate, ie those who receive compensation for their work as designers and / or graphic designers. The sections are:
- 1a) Short comic (up to 15 years)
- 1b) Short comic (from 16 years)
- 2a) Drawing / Graphics / Illustration (up to 15 years)
- 2b) Drawing / Graphics / Illustration (from 16 years)
A self-contained story is required for sections 1a and 1b, with or without texts; there are no restrictions on the number or scanning of the cartoons; it must be created in a single page, but dedicating a vignette to the single image of the created superhero.
instead, for the sections 2a and 2b every drawing, image, graphic elaboration or illustration by itself is fine, in accordance with the theme of the competition. Expiry date
The works must be delivered no later than 20.00 hours on Saturday 13 April 2019.
Imago Awards
As every year, the classic Imago prizes will be awarded, including bags, games, comics, comic strip stage, graphics courses it's a annual admission to Città della Scienza, to the winners voted by the Comicon public, but there is something new. There is also a special cash prize from Città della Scienza, intended for the paper which, by CDS itself, will be considered more representative of CDS. This elaborate, chosen only among those of the participants who are at least 14 years old, will also be used as a mascot.
