Naples and its citizens regain possession of the beautiful Formiello Fountain, brought to light by an excellent restoration work!
Saturday 18 April 2015 in Naples, at Piazza Enrico de Nicola, an extraordinary one inaugurazione will celebrate the end of the works of restoration to the beautiful Fontana del Formiello.
After four long months of work, by theCultural Association Le Due Sirene, the return to the city of the monumental source, represents a prestigious goal obtained thanks to the special campaign of through crowdfunding conceived by the same cooperative and which involved all citizens.
Un project ambitious, this, under the banner of "One feeling: love. It could not be otherwise. We took inspiration from Matilde Serao and her "Neapolitan Legends", when she states that "the fountains are nourished by tears of love" for the idea: the Fontana del Formiello, its restoration, would have been a monument, a gesture of love for our city"As explained by the President of the Association, Valeria Iodice.
The precious work of the 1573, located behind Castel Capuano and the aedicula of San Gennaro, on the esplanade of the Church of Santa Caterina in Formiello, is the symbol of one of the most fascinating artistic and cultural heritage belonging to the city of Naples.
A real treasure, brought to light thanks to the dedication of Le Due Sirene, for years engaged in the safeguard and in recovery of monuments, works and national masterpieces.
