A fun and original Cantata dei Pastori at the Teatro Instabile in Naples, between circus acrobatics, commedia dell'arte and sacred drama
Until January 10 2016 it will be possible to attend an original and fun show inspired by the traditional Cantata dei Pastori by Andrea Perrucci but represented in "circus" version, directed by Michele Del Grosso, in collaboration with the Vesuvian Academy of Gianni Sallustro's Theater, Ottaviano's acting school.
Razzullo and Sarchiapone under 'or tent, this is the title of the new "cantata", is on stage, even in these days, at the Teatro Instabile di Napoli (TIN) located in vico Fico Purgatorio in Arco, in the heart of the historical center.
The theatrical project intends to give life to a cantata of the "secular" shepherds, also centered, like the original seventeenth-century, on the birth of the baby Jesus, but which here becomes a metaphor for the condition of the actors in the continuous search for a place to "give birth" to the show.
The story is told through one mixture of theatrical genres, from the most noble styles such as opera buffa and sacred drama to the most popular forms such as the comedy of art, the work of the puppets up to the codes of the circus theater. The company is in fact formed by 19 elements, including actors, singers, acrobats and musicians who sing, dance, engage in a thousand acrobatics and interact with the public, recalling the representative ways of Raffaele Viviani, Roberto De Simone and Annibale Ruccello.
The guiding thread of the entire representation is Razzullo, a scribe sent to Palestine for the census, a comic character perpetually hungry, who becomes here the true magister of Commedia dell'Arte.
