Our city told through the photographs of Luciano De Crescenzo, in the exhibition Bellavista La Napoli

We all know the Luciano De Crescenzo writer, director, actor and also philosopher, but we rarely stumbled upon his talent as a photographer. Yet De Crescenzo has also been able to be an attentive observer of the Neapolitan reality surrounding him and has been able to immortalise it in some very significant shots.
His photographs, collected in a volume published in 1979, today very difficult to find, will be exhibited in the new space in Piazzetta Nilo, in the historic center of the city, and will form the itinerary of the exhibition. Bellavista's Naples.
In Nile Museum Shop it will be possible to know this artistic talent of De Crescenzo who, through several dozens of images, wanted to tell our Naples, the city we have come to know through his films, first of all those of Nice view, a city of many facets, together ironic and dramatic, deep and grotesque, solar and nostalgic.
The shots were all taken between the '70s and' 80s, when De Crescenzo wandered through the streets and alleys of the city holding his Nikon to immortalize one-of-a-kind characters, glimpses of life, unrepeatable moments. We will thus be able to make a trip toHospital of the Dolls in vico Paperelle al Pendino; observe the Statue of San Gennaro bring a advice by the faithful who left her an inscription that read “Futtatenne” (in reference to the attempt by the Vatican to modify the official feast of the Saint); we will know popular realities such as that of the two funeral directors intent on enjoying a sandwich; we will observe the life of the so-called streetwalkers.
The exhibition, curated by his daughter Paola and the archaeologist Laura Del Verme, will be open to visitors from the 12 December 2014 to the 12 February 2015. The inauguration will take place on the 12th of this month at 18.30 pm in the presence of De Crescenzo himself. The artist will also present his latest book, Will Bring You Fortuna - Unusual Guide of Naples, and in addition each photograph will also be reproduced and offered for sale.
