Ciro Fiengo of the Born with the Shirt will bring Eduardo's masterpiece, The Art of Comedy, to the stage of the ZTN theater in Naples!
From the 24 26 2017 February, ZTN Theater, Teatro Naviganti area of Naples, the opera by Eduardo De Filippo will be staged "The Art of Comedy“, In two parts and a prologue.
The company that will propose this classic of the Edwardian theater is Do.Te.Teatro by Ciro Fiengo, a talented Neapolitan actor, director and author, also founder of the social project “Born with the Shirt”, who will propose his adaptation of this masterpiece.
The Art of Comedy
Bringing the Art of Comedy to the stage, according to Fiengo's words, means trying to give back to this masterpiece its right value and celebrate the great Eduardo in his environment, the theatrical one, which lately seems to have ignored our unrepeatable playwright and actor a little too much. The opera was written in 1964 and is a strong comedy Pirandellian imprint. It is configured as a "political" manifesto of De Filippo's dramaturgy but, according to Ciro Fiengo, it should also be "a manifesto for all those actors who, without compromise, seek the legitimacy of their dignity, ask it to society, to politics, to seek it out to the deaf, to those who pretend not to hear, and obtain it only from the tables of a stage".
The theater company
Do.Te.Teatro was born in 2014, immediately interested in classical theater, the one who is nothing more than a mirror of the truth and who undertakes to investigate the human soul. The first show staged was The Rattle cap by Pirandello which was followed by re-propositions of other theater classics and many important collaborations, such as the one with the Tasso Theater. The most representative show of their production was made in 2016 and was “The Inspector General visiting Itaglia”, an adaptation of the satirical comedy “The Inspector General of Gogol” to the present day.
