Lino guanciale is one of the most loved Italian actors of the moment, to the point of being recognized as a real one fiction star. Just last 6 March 2023 debuted on Rai Uno with the second season of "Il Commissario RIcciardi", the series set in Naples in the Thirties and for which four new interesting episodes are planned.

Biography

Lino Guanciale, from Abruzzo from Avezzano, was born on May 22, 1979 from a simple family in which the mother was a teacher and the father was a doctor. He is not an only child since he has a younger brother, named Giorgio, to whom he is very close and who is now a psychologist. He completes a course of scientific studies which decides to enroll in medicine, passing the entrance tests except, then, change his mind and enroll in Letters and Philosophy at La Sapienza in Rome.

Lino guanciale he won't finish college (to date he is only missing his degree thesis) but in the meantime he will first become passionate about rugby (he will play in the under 16 and under 19 national teams) and then , enrolling in the Academy of Dramatic Art and graduating in 2003. Guanciale is married to Antonella Liuzzi since July 2020 and became, a year later, father of a boy named Pietro.

Career

The career of Lino Guanciale start with the theatre after graduating in 2003. Some of his major performances have been directed by greats of the caliber of Claudio Longhi and Gigi Proietti. Subsequently thefilm debut, in 2009, with "Io, Don Giovanni" where he plays the role of Mozart intent on composing Don Giovanni. Several successes in the cinema that follow, along with jewels for the small screen (such as "The secret of water" in 2011 and excellent fiction such as "God help us" in 2013).

Cinema

Lino Guanciale made his film debut in 2009 at the age of 30 in “Io, Don Giovanni” directed by Carlos Saura. This will be followed by other important interpretations, the main ones being:

  • Vallanzasca - The angels of evil, directed by Michele Placido (2010).
  • To Rome with Love, by Woody Allen (2012).
  • Marvelous Boccaccio, by Paolo and Vittorio Taviani (2015).
  • A Martian named Ennius, by Davide Cavuti (2021).
  • The first day of my life, by Paolo Genovese (2023).

But that's not all because the interpretations in other great masterpieces for cinema such as “On the front line” by Renato De Maria (2009) and "The worst" by Vincenzo Alfieri (2017) which also earned him the Ciak d'oro award and recognition for best leading actor.

TV, Web TV and Radio

If Lino Guanciale is known as fiction star the reason is found in the huge contribution given in terms of content dedicated to the small screen. Again, it is possible to point out some of the main ones, a start with the first TV series, in 3 episodes, dated 2011.

Very first love of Lino Guanciale, the theater is very rich in his works both as an actor and as a director.

As an actor, it is undoubtedly worth mentioning his first performance dating back to 2003, "Romeo and Juliet" directed by the great Gigi Proietti to whom, among other things, he was bound by esteem and sincere affection.

From the same year "Caligula" directed by Claudio Longhi. Guanciale was also directed by Michele Placido in “The Facts of Fontamara” in 2009. Guanciale has been director and actor in several plays such as:

In 2019 and 2020 Guanciale directed, respectively, "Wedding" e "My Infinite End of the World" of which he was exclusively director and not actor.

Dubbing and directing

The experiences of Lino Guanciale are also significant in the role of voice actor and director. In the TV dubbing category he voiced Richard Madden in "The doctors" and for the cinema double Luthe in “Show Dogs – We enter the scene”.

Among all stand out the Silver ribbon, received in 2021, for his performance in one of the most popular series of the moment, "Il commissario Ricciardi". The award dates back to 2017 “CinèCiak d'oro” for “The Worst” of Alfieri.

Guanciale was also awarded the Flaiano Award for both theater (in 2015 and 2016 respectively as revelation actor of the year and "Flaiano for Abruzzo") both for cinema (in 2017 as best co-protagonist actor in "A romantic adventure" by Cavuti.

Also in 2017 Guanciale received the MuMi Cultural Award as best actor of the year. Double prize in 2018, again as best actor, in "The working class goes to heaven", for which the Ubu Prize and the Anct Prize.

Curiosity

They are various curiosities have emerged, over time, about Lino Guanciale and revealed, from time to time, by himself during his countless interviews. Among these, there are some that fans absolutely cannot miss, and in particular three.

  • Although today he is considered a fictional star, for Lino Guanciale the first love was the theater which fascinated him from an early age. He trod his first stage at the age of 19, reaching the consensus of numerous greats in the theater world, first of all Gigi Proietti.
  • There are some obsessions (or superstitious gestures) that accompany Guanciale during his working and non-working daily life. Before starting filming he always has to snap his fingers and repeat a phrase 13 consecutive times. Why 13? Because for the actor this is the number that brings him luck since he had stamped it on his shirt when he played rugby.
  • Linen Guanciale is a big fan of Fiorentina and he has been since he was a child: a passion inherited from his father, a true Florentine.

Private life

The private life of Lino Guanciale is characterized by one long relationship with the actress Antonietta Belloknown on stage. Today he is happily married to a teacher he met in Milan and recently stated that he just can't feel complete without a family of his own. Even political sentiment, however, had and still has an important role in the life of the actor.

Marriage and children

Lino Guanciale is today married to Antonella Liuzzi, daughter of Pietro Liuzzi, former senator of the People of Freedom and known at the Bocconi University of Milan where the woman teaches. From the very first moments they form a very strong bond and become inseparable. The wedding arrives after a short time and far from the gossip (therefore secretly) the July 18 2020. A little over a year after the wedding, the couple has had a son, Pietro, born on November 14, 2021.

Political commitment

Lino Guanciale is actively engaged in politics for several years now. Lately, just at the beginning of 2023, he became the spokesperson, in Abruzzo, to support Elly Schlein's candidacy for the secretariat of the Democratic Party.
