Free concerts and guided tours in the churches of Naples with the review Musica in the Sacred Places dedicated to the Baroque.

The review returns Music in the Holy Places with a series of free concerts in the churches of Naples flanked by guided tours with art historians.

The concerts will take place in the period of Advent, in four appointments that will start on 11th December and will end on 23rd December 2016. They are dedicated to Barocco and, therefore, the so-called will be played cultured music. It will be a real combination of art, music and tradition for a journey through our history through the splendid melodies inspired by the Baroque.

The project also includes the “Sing, Play and Walk” initiative aimed at children between 8 and 11 years of age for a year of music study. Specifically, it is aimed at young people from the parishes of the areas of Capodimonte, Barra, Porta Capuana, Scampia, Torre del Greco, Afragola and Pallonetto di Santa Lucia.

Music Program in the Sacred Places

11th December

19.00 hours: Baroque Ensemble of Naples in the church of Santa Maria Regina Coeli

The church is an important testimony of Renaissance and Baroque art and the concert includes “Laetatus sum. The sacredness between vocality and instrumental music ”which starts from a classic of the sacred repertoire of the Neapolitan school (Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Laetatus sum) and highlights the link between vocal music and forms of instrumental music.

18th December

19.00: Musical Association "I Cantori di Posillipo" in the church of San Giovanni in Carbonara

Mozart's concert "Te Deum Laudamus" will be performed, a Christian hymn in prose of ancient origin, used as a song of thanksgiving.

20th December

20.00 hours: Napolinova Association in the church of Santa Caterina in Formiello

They will perform a repertoire inspired by the "Nativity in the Italian musical baroque".

23th December 

20.00 pm: the Discantus association at the church of Sant'Eligio Maggiore

They will perform a repertoire from "Magnificat Anima Mea" on the figure of John Rutter, one of the most famous composer and choral conductors in the world.
