The Naples Theater Festival 2017 offers a rich program with 80 evening events

From the 5 June to the 10 July 2017 in Naples and in other provinces of Campania the Naples Theater Festival 2017 organized by Campania Foundation of the Festivals. It is a journey around the theatrical cultures of Italy and the world and Naples, which was the homeland of the philosopher Giambattista Vico, the mathematician Renato Caccioppoli, the composer Roberto De Simone, the great Eduardo De Filippo and many other characters illustrious, could not fail to be the site of this great event.

During the festival Titles 80 will be proposed divided into ten sections: International Shows, Italian Shows, Dance, Music, Cinema, Literature, Training, Exhibitions, SportOpera and finally the Observatory section. The event will open the 5 June with the free concert by Franco Battiato in Piazza del Plebiscito.

Italian shows

In the section dedicated to Italian shows, the performances will see the performances of very important names such as those of Luca Zingaretti, Alessandro Preziosi, Cristina Comencini, Luca Brabareschi and Enzo Moscato. Great theater classics such as Dostoevsky's The Wicked or free interpretations of fundamental works, such as episodes from the Spoon River Anthology, will be staged.

International Shows

In the section on international shows there will be many artists of which we remember: Jan Fabre, Angelica Liddell and Dimitris Papaioannou In addition there will also be a concert by Peppe Servillo.

Training Section

In this edition we will give ample space to the Training section, that is to the relationship between the Masters and young talents. In fact, some masters such as Eimuntas Nekrosius, Peter Brook and Tomislav Janezic will come to our city to share their knowledge with young artists, while others like Maurizio Capone, Laura Curino, Le Belle Bandiere, Spiro Scimone, Antonio Biasiucci and Brunello Leone will open workshops with young Italian and foreign students.

Cinema section

The Cinema section will take place in collaboration with the Mantua Festivaletteratura and will propose a series of films, which have never been distributed in Italy, dedicated to the great writers of the world.

Exhibitions Section

Exhibitions will be set up in the Exhibitions section stage costumes used in theater and cinema and made by great Italian costume designers including Piero Tosi, Maurizio Millenotti, Gabriella Pescucci and Carlo Poggioli.

Music Section

This section will highlight the forms it can take the theatrical performance when it comes into contact with music. It will be well represented by the opening concert, “Luce del Sud”, starring Franco Battiato on stage, but also by the performances of Enzo Avitabile, Peppe Servillo and the Ensemble Berlin.

Observatory Section

It is the dedicated section to private companies and new theatrical generations who find it difficult to find their own space in today's cultural landscape.

Sport Section

In the SportOpera Section, the athletic gesture is considered a physical variant of the art. Parallel to the artistic work, sport, in a more extreme way, deals with the deep dynamics of the human being, which is why with this section it was born as a sort of experimental laboratory. It is an observatory where style exercises are proposed on the relationship between sport and the various declinations of art.

Literature Section

A series of ten meetings in which actors and poets will read some literary passages live. Films will also be screened on the history of important poets, there will be a library dedicated to poetry and also true poetic jam sessions. All in the headquarters of Villa Pignatelli.

Dance Section

Important dance companies will perform in shows inspired by different genres. There will be performances dedicated to Italian baroque, others more modern and experimental and others still on the traditional ones tammurriate Neapolitan.

Special projects

Among the special projects of the Napoli Teatro Festival there are provocations, such as those of the initiative "Actors in the showcase", Projects on the social role of theater, such as"Neighborhoods of life”And performances on classical theater, such as the 6 plays dedicated to Shakespeare.
