At the end of December the new film by Ozpetek, Napoli Velata, arrives in cinemas, an intrigue of passion, mystery, superstitions and beauty.

The long-awaited film Napoli Velata by Ferzan Ozpetek is about to arrive in the cinemas and the official release date is the 28 December 2017. It is one of the films that most arouses the curiosity of the director, especially among the Neapolitan fans, because it sets an intriguing story in an equally mysterious city.

The protagonist is Giovanna Mezzogiorno, flanked by Lina Sastri, Alessandro Borghi and Anna Bonaiuto and the story takes place in the meanders of a crime and a deep passion that bring to light superstitions and shadows that suddenly awaken.

The film promises, therefore, full of suspense against the background of Naples veiled that reveals itself and that for years has fascinated the director inexorably. Ozpetek, in fact, after spending a long time in the city during the staging of the Traviata al San Carlo he was breathless in front of the details and mysteries of Naples, the contrasts between wealth, elegance and poverty, in front of its beauty, stratified history, culture, liveliness of citizens and traditions.

Napoli Velata, a film that differs from clichés

The film, as stated by Ozpetek himself, it totally differs from all common places that characterize Naples and the scenes told in Gomorrah because it tells of culture, of open-air museums, elegance, of aware citizens. Furthermore, it was the location of masterpieces such as Vittorio De Sica's L'Oro di Napoli and Roberto Rossellini's Journey to Italy, additional reasons that convinced the director to shoot here.
