Even Naples, as well as many other cities in Italy and in the world, is preparing to participate in the Polar pedaling organized by Greenpeace and scheduled for 4 October 2014.
Like last year, the event aims to raise public awareness of the dangers they face polar bears in the Arctic and on the necessary protection of the Arctic itself.
The worldwide mobilization will be done exclusively with the bicycle to create a single great international pedaling in defense of the Arctic.
Le thousands of people who will gather in many cities around the world, including Naples, will ask the most influential politicians to act in favor of that ecosystem in danger. In fact, due to global warming, and the consequent melting of glaciers, as well as of drilling in search of oil and intensive fishing, the whole area is suffering enormous damage that will need to be repaired as soon as possible.
With the Polar Ride, citizens will be able to express their opinion and leverage world politics to mobilize in defense of the animals, especially the bears, which inhabit those areas and all the habitat there.
In Naples, the ride, spread on the web with the hashtag #iceride, will start from the meeting point planned in Piazza del Gesù Nuovo.
All participants are invited to be as engaging as possible to draw attention, in a fun way, to the problem. They can then to decorate their bikes as they see fit and carry flags, masks, festoons and costumes.
At the event, of course, there will be many Greenpeace volunteers, completely available to participants to answer any doubts on the subject, in order to facilitate information on the matter.
