Real Time is preparing to launch a new format entitled "I thought it was love“, scheduled to air starting from April 14 on channel 31. The program, of which some information had already been anticipated by TvBlog, will focus on stories of love scams online, false identities, double lives, revenge porn and betrayals.

Management and production

He will be at the helm of the program Veronica Ruggeri, already known for having dealt with similar issues in the past, in particular as a correspondent and presenter of "Reservoir Dogs".

The production of "I thought it was love" will be curated by Simona Ercolani's Stand by Me, and foresees 20 episodes lasting 30 minutes each. The program will also be available on the streaming platform Discovery +.

Structure of the program and topics addressed

“I thought it was love” configures as one scripted reality, in which each installment will rebuild love stories born online and end dramatically. The story will happen through interviews people really involved (in the form anonymous), flanked by actors who will illustrate the events in a realistic way. The program will explore the techniques used by scammers to deceive victims looking for love and, thus, also to warn viewers.

Each story will be narrated by point of view of the "deceived" lover, showing the first moments of the relationship, the warning signs and the painful moment of truth. There will be a focus on the "executioner", the central figure of the narrative.

Among the phenomena examined, the program will also address the cat fishing, a widespread practice on social networks which consists in the creation and use of false identity accounts to deceive other users.
