Peppe Barra at the Teatro Delle Palme with a Dream of an Enchanted Night

Peppe Barra accompanies us in a fairy world inhabited by magical characters in his show inspired by the Pentamerone di Basile

Peppe Barra returns to perform in the theater with a show freely inspired by the Pentamerone by Giambattista Basile, with original music by Patrizio Trampetti and the participation of Teresa Del Vecchio.

It is the pièce Dream of an Enchanted Night, which will be on stage at Delle Palme Theater of Naples from the 12 February 2015 and that will tell us a musical fairytale full of illusions, poetry and fun, capable of transporting us in a world suspended between reality and imagination.

The show staged by Peppe Barra, directed by Fabrizio Bancale, starts from the seventeenth-century collection of fairy tales by Basile, The Cunto de li Cunti (better known as Il Pentamerone), now a fundamental literary reference point not only for Neapolitan culture, but also for Italian and international culture. The work, composed of 50 novellas that deal with even complex subjects, is an excellent portrait of the Neapolitan people of the time.

Peppe Barra starts from one of the many fairy tales, The Seven Palombelli, to accompany us in a magical universe inhabited by cruel witches, ogres, fairies, talking animals, princes, retracing, personalizing it, one of the stories imagined by Basile.
The story tells the story of a woman, Iannetella, who got pregnant for the umpteenth time after having given birth to seven sons, finally gives birth to a female, Gianna. The brothers, however, annoyed by the mother's constant pregnancies, decide to leave to go and seek fortune around the world. Once she grows up, the girl decides to undertake herself a trip in search of his seven brothers.

During this adventure, the protagonist will come across fantastic characters, fairy woods, talking trees, enchanted castles, making the acquaintance of an ogre in love, a golden duck and the ingenious Vardiello.
A show, this by Peppe Barra, which will make us live for one night in an enchanting universe, full of satire and irony, but also of irreverence, poetry and amazement.
